ABOUT THE CARE PANTRY

Welcome to The Care Pantry! We are a dedicated non-profit (501(c)(3) agency that
exists to mitigate the stigma of hygiene poverty in Jacksonville, Florida.
We believe that every human being deserves the right to have basic hygiene care
products without limitations due to poverty, mental health, or temporary hardships of life.
Our goal is to alleviate the heavy, and often painful, emotional burden on those affected by the inability to afford basic personal care and household products.
The Care Pantry, through our dedicated team and collaborative partnerships, addresses
the immediate needs of individuals and families by distributing essential personal
hygiene products and basic household products at no cost. We thrive in building
stronger and more resilient communities.

OUR MISSION

WHAT WE DO

OUR COMMUNITY

At The Care Pantry, our mission is to reduce barriers in daily living by providing essential personal hygiene and household products to individuals and families experiencing economic and mental health obstacles. We are dedicated to restoring dignity, health, and hope by strengthening communities through outreach, partnerships, and care.

We provide essential hygiene products such as soap, toothpaste, toothbrushes, incontinence pads, laundry detergent, toilet tissue, sanitary products, and more to women, men, and families in need. We distribute these items in a compassionate and respectful manner, making sure that our community members receive the support they require.

The Care Pantry is built on the belief that community is everything. We collaborate through local partnerships and volunteers to create a strong network of support. Together, we work to raise awareness about hygiene needs and foster a culture of giving and compassion within our community.

Our History

The Care Pantry was founded in 2023, by Executive Director Sylvia Moore, on the belief that no person or family should ever be without basic hygiene and household products, that no one should ever be shamed or bullied due to their inability to afford such items and the fact that dignity and self-worth could be restored when essential hygiene and household products are readily available. In 2022, while volunteering at a food distribution hosted by Feeding Northeast Florida, Sylvia heard conversations of girls missing school and women missing work because they could not afford period products. She witnessed neighbors in tears when they received period product, because they went without these basic products for months, using tissue and rags. After digging deeper and learning about hygiene poverty, the seed was planted, and The Care Pantry Came into fruition in 2025. Our initial opening event will take place on May 06, 2026.
